Each of us may knowingly and unknowingly discriminate as a response to fear or insecurity. However, when we become curious about people, culture, perspectives and experiences, and we remain open and curious, we can combat discrimination. Curiosity is an excellent remedy to fear and a fundamental prerequisite to learning. Sankara invites you to practice curiosity.
To engage with curiosity, we must actively seek out new experiences and be delighted by the sights, sounds, tastes, and perspectives which we have not yet explored or discovered. We have to shed the fear and insecurity we hold onto, which impedes change and growth. We must be devoted to breaking down our biases and building up our capacity for empathy.
Every day, we must work on our relationship with curiosity as we seek to build genuine human connections to break the cycle of discrimination.
Sankara invites you to actively commit to combating all forms of racial discrimination, injustice, systemic racism, and hate to ensure a world where everyone is respected, safe, and has equitable access to contribute meaningfully to all aspects of a good and prosperous world.
